Plumbing
AI for plumbing companies
Plumbing calls do not keep business hours. A burst pipe at midnight and a routine drain cleaning come through the same line, and sorting them in the first thirty seconds decides who gets a truck tonight and who gets a morning window. HumCrew answers every call, triages the emergency from the routine, and books straight into your dispatch board.
The plumbing call pattern
Emergencies do not keep hours
Burst pipes, sewage backups, and gas smells happen at two in the morning as often as two in the afternoon. A missed emergency call does not turn into a next day callback, it turns into a flooded basement and a call to whoever answers next.
Every call needs triage
A running toilet and a water heater flooding a closet sound similar over the phone until someone asks the right questions. Sorting severity before dispatch decides who rolls a truck now and who gets a scheduled window.
Bigger jobs need follow up
Repipes, water heater replacements, and fixture upgrades get quoted, then compared against two other bids while the homeowner decides. Quotes that nobody revisits during that window quietly lose.
A midnight pipe burst, walked through
- 01A pipe bursts under a kitchen sink at eleven at night. The homeowner calls the number on your truck, and the agent answers on the first ring, identifying itself as an AI assistant for your company.
- 02It asks whether water is actively flowing, whether the main shutoff has been closed, and the address, and walks the caller through finding the shutoff valve if they have not already.
- 03The call creates an urgent callback item for your on-call process while the same conversation captures the fixture, symptom, and access notes for the crew.
- 04After a visit is confirmed, the homeowner can receive a consent-aware confirmation with the scheduled window. The crew sees the saved service details before the visit.
- 05Two weeks later a different caller wants a quote on a repipe. The agent books the estimate visit in HumCrew. Any later CRM write or follow up path requires a separately built and verified connector and workflow.
Works with plumbing dispatch, not just the big platforms
Plumbing companies run on ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, and a long tail of dispatch tools built for the trade. Those are potential integration targets, not current HumCrew core connectors. If one must remain the system of record, our engineers separately scope, build, and verify the authorized paths before any record is read or written.
Common questions
Can an AI agent really tell an emergency from a routine call?
It asks the same questions a good dispatcher would: is water actively running, is anyone in danger, and how long this has been happening. Anything that reads as an active leak, a gas smell, or a sewage backup creates an urgent callback item for your on-call process. Eligible non-emergency work can book into the configured regular schedule.
Does the agent try to diagnose the plumbing problem?
No. It collects symptoms so your technician arrives prepared, not a diagnosis or a repair recommendation. It stays in its lane: answer, ask the right questions, triage, and book.
We already run dispatch software. Does this replace it?
No. The supported core can run in HumCrew. A connection to your dispatch software is not included by default; it is a separate custom engineering project that must be scoped, built, and verified before any external booking or write is enabled.
